Schematic Diagram of the Wire H.V.O.F. Spray Process
Wire HVOF thermal spraying was developed after year 2000 and its goal is to deposit molybdenum in a layer with low porosity and high hardnesses.
This process replaces successfully hard chroming. Moreover, it has the advantage of deposition of thick layers over 1mm thickness, having an adherence and hardness superior to chroming. It is not limited by the part size. The disadvantage is a higher price than that of the electrochemical chroming.
It can obviously be deposited any alloy or pure metal which can exist as wire and has a melting point under 3000º C.
